RB Series Bass Heads

GK’s RB Series bass amplifiers have been setting the standard for over two decades. Inside these compact, lightweight ‘superstructures’ is the most advanced bass circuitry available. In 1972, Bob Gallien developed what he calls G.I.V.E. Technology (Gate Induced Valve Effect). This ‘valve effect’ is integrated into the design of all RB Series heads and is part of what gives them their distinct sound. The RB Series heads deliver a warm, punchy tone with a fast transient response that not only sounds better, it feels better. GK’s renowned voicing filters and intuitive four band active EQ make it simple to dial in a great sound. Every day thousands of players around the world in arenas, clubs and basements plug into GK heads because they love that sound.

What our customers are saying about RB heads

“I’ve been a working bass player in the Kansas City area for over 35 years. My first GK was a 400RB that I bought in the late 70’s. I traded for an 800RB when they first came out and have been using that amp continuously ever since. I’ve played many different guitars and styles during that time but that GK has always been my amp. I have finally had to replace the old 800RB so I did the logical thing and bought a brand new 800RB. Thanks GK for an amp I’ve depended on to produce the sound I love and wouldn’t trade for anything. Looks like I’m set for another 20 years.”

- Richard Streeter

“Hello, I am just taking a moment to write to you about a purchase I made over twenty years ago. I was told about this new bass head on the market called a GK 400RB. Lightweight, plenty of power and tone , and the price was right. Today, I am still playing steady and using that same head! It has really served me well, has never lost any tone or power, even after falling out of the band trailer on Rt. 17 one night, and surviving two club fires! I have been through dozens of basses, but the head has never changed. Just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks for building such a great, reliable amp head.”

- Mike Butler

“These 800RB amps just keep going. Great to know the support matches the quality of the product…rare these days.”

- Rick

I just wanted to let you guys know that you made me a proud GK owner this weekend. I played a festival on Saturday where the headliner provided the backline. The bass rig contained a really nice Genz-Benz head. Half way through the first band, the bass was cutting out, and the tech’s couldn’t figure out why. Then for most of my band’s set, the bass continually cut out, and again the tech’s couldn’t figure out why, but they insisted it was not the backline, and must have been a cable or the actual basses themselves. I was pretty convinced it was the head, so I convinced the tech’s and headlining bassist into letting me swap their Genz-Benz for my GK 1001RB-II. Needless to say, the bass stopped cutting out for the remainder of the day/night, and the front of house engineer couldn’t stop praising the bass tone. The bass player for the headliner is now “upgrading” to a GK head.
Keep up the great work, and thanks for making me the hero of the day!

Just wanted to let you know about a musical surprise which happened to me lately. Last Saturday I visited my dealer as my Bass needed adjustment. In the “second-hand” corner of his shop I saw a GK 1001RB head which he offered me at a very special sale price. It seems to be about ten years old but looked like new. I bought the amp right away as I wanted a backup amp because I gig very regularly. Last tuesday I did a rehearsal with my band. I plugged my bass in, turned up the volume and.. I was flabbergasted!!! This amp gives me, right away, that fat but tight, punchy and musical tone I really love!! I couldn’t be happier with my sound. I’ve played bass for more than 30 years and had lots of different amps. Until now the Eden WT 550 (USA version..) was my favorite amp, but from now on this head really is the best I ever had (and the cheapest as well). My main amp (an expensive 800 W class D design) doesn’t sound half as powerful and has now become my backup amp.

Keep up the good work and thanks for delivering to me my favorite tone!

- Jan Hoekstra

I would like to begin by saying that I couldn’t be happier with my new (new to me) 400RB bass amp. Finally I am hearing with my ears what I have been hearing in my head for years. I thank you very much for making this amp.

– Mike Jaccino

“I’ve been using a 400RB-III for over four years, and it sounds as good as it ever did, providing clarity that many have dreamed of. Many have borrowed my amp for recording or gigging because their Ampegs, Fenders or anything else just aren’t doing it.”

- Timothy Lyons

“I just wanted to let you know, that as a lifelong bass player who’s used lots and lots of quality gear over the years, my new 1001RB-II kicks butt on every other bass amp I have ever used. The list of brands of amp/processing I’ve used over the years in my bass rigs includes: Yamaha, Ashly, Hartke, QSC, Crown, Ampeg and Fender. Seriously folks, the 1001RB-II blows it all away and is worth every penny. Thank you for finally scratching my itch for great bass sound; it’s been bugging me for years.”

- Kevin Wright

“I just got my 410RBH, 2001RB head and 115RBH setup in 8 ohms and it sounds amazing, truly awesome. I am always gonna stay with GK from now on. I just got to say, it puts Ampeg to shame.”

- Scott (United Kingdom)

“My 2001RB and NEO212s arrived yesterday and they are incredible (and loud – had no idea running the amp in dual mono and not using all the power could still almost blow me through a wall). The sound is phenomenal! You were a tremendous help in my head/cab selection and I am very appreciative. You guys have a new loyal customer and I have already been spreading the love on a few other forums. GK service rocks! Thanks again for all of you help!”

- Ritch Parrish

I’m a GK user and fan. Love your amps. Honestly, when I first started playing bass I didn’t like your stuff (at least I didn’t *think* I liked it). When it was time to upgrade my amp (this was about 8 years ago), I went to a Guitar Center, positive I was going to pull the trigger on an Ampeg SVT CL and 810. While the GC folks were helping other customers, I randomly plugged the bass I was using to test amps into a GK 1001 rb mark II and a GK410SBX. I immediately fell in love. I walked out the store that day with that very head and cab, plus a GK115SBX (plus some cash leftover, as it was considerably less than the Ampeg rig I was going to get). Seriously. Love your amps.
