Bassbaba Sumon started playing lap acoustic guitar at the age of 7. He made his first appearance on national TV as a 'child artist' when he was 10. He went to a local music store to convert his lap acoustic guitar to a Spanish guitar and started learning it by himself when he was 12. He formed his own band and started writing English songs in the same year. One day he saw a song of Iron Maiden on TV and instantly became a fan of Steve Harris! He decided to play bass guitar. He removed the 1st and 2nd string from his acoustic guitar and using that as a bass when he was 13. He joined a very famous band of Bangladesh called ‘Feelings’ (Now known as ‘Nagar Baul’) when he was 15. He himself became very famous as a ‘solo bass player’ in live concerts and also started playing as a session bass player in studios on a regular basis by the age of 17. He recorded his first ever written and produced Bangla song as a singer without any voice training at the age of 18. He started recording his first solo album called ‘Sumon O’ Aurthohin’ which was produced by himself when he was 19. By that time he already played with 11 bands of the country. 

Saidus Salehin Khaled (Sumon), better known as “Bassbaba Sumon” is a bassist and singer from the South Asian country Bangladesh. He is known for his nice grooves, excellent use of different bass playing techniques and mostly, for his quite frequent bass solos in his band Aurthohin's songs. After he became a father one of his students started calling him 'Bass Baba' ('Baba' means 'father' in Bangla). Then all of his students started doing that. Within a few years Sumon's new given name by the students spreads like a wild fire through the entire fan community. They started calling him 'Bassbaba Sumon'. Unofficially it became his nickname. Sumon decided to make it his 'Stage Name', but people of Bangladesh call him 'Bassbaba' as the 'Father of Bass'.

Bassbaba Sumon has single handedly changed the role of bass guitar in Bangladeshi Music. It is said that Bass playing has become a hugely attractive thing to the young music lovers of this country because of the influence of Bassbaba Sumon. Music listeners of Bangladesh did not take bass guitar seriously till early 90s. That time Bassbaba Sumon started playing bass solos in live concerts. To draw attention to bass, he started to play bass in 'non-traditional' way. Sometimes he took it on his shoulder, sometimes playing with his teeth like Jimi Hendrix. In Bassbaba Sumon's own words, "Though most of those performance were full of 'gimmicks', it helped me to introduce to the people what a 'bass guitar' can do". More and more young people started to learn bass guitar after experiencing those shows. Bass was not just a backup instrument anymore. Bangladesh is a country where metal and alternative rock came to mainstream, Bassbaba Sumon was credited as one of the most influencing artists in that sector. He is also a key figure in promoting rock musicians in the country. Many of the famous rock and metal bands got their debut album's record deal through him. Back in the day most of the new musicians couldn't afford to rent a studio to record their music. He let countless bands and musicians to record their songs in his personal studio without any obligation. 

Bassbaba Sumon is the vocalist, bass player, song writer, producer of his band Aurthohin. His band is one of the most popular bands of Bangladesh. They released eight studio albums till now. Bassbaba Sumon also released six studio albums including one duet album and one bass instrumental album called 'Soul Food - Part 1' where world's renowned musicians like Felix Pastorius, Robert Bubby Lewis, Robert Franceschini collaborated with him. He is the official artist of MTD bass by one of the Master luthier Michael Tobias. He is the first ever Bangladeshi musician, based in Bangladesh and making Bangla music who got endorsed by a foreign musical instruments company. He is also an official artist of BOSS, Roland, Temple Audio Design, Gruv Gear, Bartolini and La Bella Strings. He was featured in Bass Player magazine’s July 2022 issue’s Star Player section. People love him not only for his music but also for his mental strength and courage. He is a cancer survivor. He fought cancer multiple times. He also got into a road accident. He had to go through more than thirty surgeries in his life. Because of the road accident he had 15 screws in his spine and couldn't move for three years but eventually came back in full form with his band 'Aurthohin'. People of Bangladesh consider him as a rock legend.
